Chrysler’s CEO Dieter Zetsche told a German paper that they can match 2004’s
performance despite rocky conditions in the auto industry. Last year, the U.S. division of DaimlerChrysler had a
profit of $1.8 billion. This year, Zetsche plans to continue to grow sales and increase profits. He also
stated that he wants Chrysler to be the benchmark of the American automotive industry by 2007. Judging from past
experience and the release of some important new products this year, Chrysler will probably hit their target. Last
year, it was Chrysler that held up DC’s profits with Mercedes suffering from losses in profit and market
share.
