An impact driver is only as good as the sockets you slot into it. If your impact socket set is too weak, too easy to lose, or lacking in all the necessary sizes, then your impact driver or wrench will be more of an expensive curiosity than a serious tool. The good news is that you can get a very strong 8-piece socket set at Walmart right now with a nice discount.
The Makita Impact XPS 8-Piece Impact Socket Set is on sale for $20 at Walmart, 28% off its normal $28 price tag. It’s compatible with impact drivers, impact wrenches, and standard ratchets, but that’s just the beginning of its remarkable flexibility.
Pros
- Strong, corrosion-resistant material
- Flexible boot is easy to use and helps with organization
- Adapter expands the kinds of tools these sockets are compatible with
Cons
- No metric sizes included
This set includes 3/16-, 1/4-, 5/16-, 3/8-, 7/16-, 1/2-, and 9/16-inch sockets and a 1/4-inch drive to 1/4-inch Impact XPS Hex Shank Torsion Socket Adapter that means this set is compatible with square and hex shanks on tools from all brands. They’re made of heat-treated alloy steel that’s engineered to withstand the kinds of extreme torque applications that impact tools are made for. They’re also coated in black oxide, which provides corrosion resistance that “significantly extends” the lifespan of these sockets.
Each socket has a six-point design that maximizes contact between socket and fastener and protects both, minimizing wear on the socket and preventing the rounding of the nut or bolt. This set also comes with a flexible boot with a spot for each piece, an invaluable ally in the neverending battle against losing small pieces of metal in a crowded workshop and/or busy jobsite.
