If you’re going to rely on a ratchet and socket set every single day while working as a full-time mechanic, you might want to splurge on a high-quality option from a trusted brand like DeWalt, Milwaukee, or Craftsman. But if you know you’ll only need to use one occasionally, more cost-effective options exist.
The Kffkff 27-Piece Ratchet and Socket Set is a great example. It typically sells for the already affordable price of just $40, making it a terrific option for DIY mechanics and homeowners looking for a reliable ratchet and socket set. And you can get your hands on it for even less than that right now, thanks to a 55% discount on Walmart’s best-selling set. It’s marked down to just $18, even though you can depend on it to perform significantly better than most other sets on sale for under $20 at the moment.
This 1/4-inch set features a ratchet with a capacity of just over 600 inch-pounds of torque, along with a full complement of SAE and metric sockets to use with it. The sockets boast six-point designs and range in size from 5/32- to 9/16-inch and 4mm to 14mm, and the set also includes extension bars to make it easier to squeeze sockets into hard-to-reach places. All of these pieces are constructed from chromium-vanadium steel to ensure they’re durable and long-lasting.
At this price point, you might not expect the set to come with a case. However, it not only includes a case, but it’s an impact-resistant case with easy-to-read markings on the inside to identify where the set’s parts go. Plus, it has a heavy-duty latch on the outside to keep the case closed securely, preventing sockets from falling out and making a big mess in your workspace.
“Amazing quality,” one reviewer wrote. “You can’t beat its compact size, and for the price, it’s the perfect ratchet and socket set to keep in the car.”
“I bought it to install a new battery in my car, and it worked perfectly,” a second shopper wrote. “It’s just the right size for keeping in your vehicle since you never know when you might need it.”
