If you find yourself needing to cut shapes more curved and more intricate than other types of power saws can handle, a jig saw is going to be the right tool for the job. Right now, Walmart has a very good jig saw from beloved toolmaker DeWalt on sale with a big discount.
The DeWalt 20V Max XR Cordless Jig Saw is on sale for $124 at Walmart, 48% off its normal $239 price tag. This price is good on the bare tool only, but it is compatible with any other DeWalt 20V batteries you already have, batteries that start at around $40, much less than the savings on this tool.
Popular PickThe brushless motor at the heart of this saw is more efficient than other motors, which translates to a longer run time. Both a dial and trigger can be used to adjust the speed of the saw to suit your purposes, up to 3,200 strokes per minute, and the compact, ergonomic design means you can use it for a while without feeling fatigue. The shoe cover is designed to protect finished surfaces from scratches, so this saw is safe to use on wood that’s already been painted or stained. On top of these solid fundamentals are a ton of user-friendly touches like the integrated LED light and dust blower for great visibility, tool-free blade changes, and a keyless bevel adjustment with detents at 0,15, and 30 degrees and a positive stop at 45.
“I’ve used a lot of jigsaws over the years, and this one easily stands out as one of the best,” one shopper wrote. It “delivers consistent performance even under load” and is strong enough that “cutting through hardwood, plywood, and even thicker material feels smooth.” Tool changes and bevel adjustments are “quick, secure, and no hassle,” part of a tool that nails “power, precision, and usability.”
Another satisfied customer wrote that this tool “felt solid in my hand when I picked it up for the first time,” and the “power and ease of use” confirmed that impression. It’s a “top-of-the-line jig saw” that “sliced through my pine wood pieces like a knife through butter.” Combined with less noise and vibration while cutting, this tool is excellent all around.
