There’s a point every fall when working in the garage stops being much fun. Maybe you’re halfway through a brake job, swapping parts on a project car, or trying to get the mower ready for winter. Once your fingers get cold, even simple jobs take longer than they should. A portable space heater won’t turn an uninsulated garage into a warm workshop, but it can make the area around your workbench a little more comfortable. And when you’re finished out there, you can bring it inside to use in an office or another chilly room.
Right now at Walmart, the Amumu 1300W Portable Space Heater is on sale for $28, a huge 84% discount from its normal $180 price. To quickly warm you up, the ceramic heating element starts putting out warm air in as little as just two seconds. It also oscillates, which could come in handy if you’re moving between the workbench and the car instead of staying in one spot.
84% OffThere are two heat settings — 1,200W and 1,300W — so don’t expect much difference between them. The timer is a little more useful, with 60-, 120-, 180-, and 240-minute settings that shut the heater off when the time runs out. It’s also fairly quiet, with a listed noise level under 45 decibels, and has tip-over and overheat protection. Just be careful about where you set it up in the garage. Keep it away from gasoline, solvents, oily rags, and anything else flammable, and plug it directly into a wall outlet. For $28, it’s a solid option if you’ve got a few cold-weather projects coming up.
“It heats up incredibly fast, the speed is adjustable, and it’s powerful enough to heat a large room,” said one shopper. “It’s very practical since you can easily move it from one spot to another, and it’s super easy to use.”
Another buyer said, “It does not take up much space, heats up quickly, and is very convenient.”
