Overview
The 2026 Volvo V90 Cross Country luxury crossover station wagon is no more. This is its last model year, and at the time of writing, it has already been removed from Volvo’s U.S. website, as customers buy the last cars in inventory. It comes with a 2.0-liter super- and turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, linked to an 8-speed automatic and AWD.
It handles unpaved roads with as much confidence as any crossover, with 7.9 inches of ground clearance and all-weather traction. Its natural rivals include the Audi A6 Allroad and Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain wagon.
What’s New for 2026
The 2026 V90 Cross Country loses its base Plus trim and comes only in fully loaded Ultra format for its last model year. Production ended in September 2025, so the remaining inventory sitting at dealers represents your only chance to still get one.
The 2026 Volvo V90 Cross Country’s price is $66,800 for the sole remaining Ultra trim.
Exterior
The V90 still looks so stylish, even after all of these years, with a long, low wagon silhouette, Volvo’s signature Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, and L-shaped LED taillights. Along the sides, you get a bit of ruggedization, with protective body cladding around the wheel arches and a noticeably higher ride height that yields almost 8 inches of ground clearance. Chrome window surrounds, standard roof rails, and 19-inch alloy wheels round off the look (20- and 21-inch options are available). It measures 195.2 inches long, 74.9 inches wide, and 60.5 inches tall, with a 115.8-inch wheelbase.

Volvo
Interior
Classical Volvo values apply in the cabin, which is starting to look its age, but is still as solidly built as ever, with soft-touch materials, real wood, and Nappa leather all around. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is fully competitive, but the 9-inch touchscreen is rather small nowadays, though it has Google Built-In, with Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store, as well as wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, which can be upgraded to a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins setup.
The second row offers a decent 35.9 inches of legroom, while there is 19.5 cu-ft of cargo space behind it, and 69 cu-ft with it folded down. The low liftover height makes the car easier to load up than an SUV.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Among the most comfortable seats in any vehicle at any price
- Wagon practicality with SUV-level ground clearance and AWD
- Serene ride over long distances
- Google is built in with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- 3 years of complimentary scheduled maintenance included
Cons:
- 2026 is the final model year with no successor planned
- 295-hp four-cylinder sounds strained compared to six-cylinder rivals
- Portrait-style infotainment screen feels dated next to newer Volvos
- Cargo volume trails the XC90 significantly despite similar length
- Premium gasoline is recommended
Verdict
The 2026 V90 Cross Country bows out as one of the last luxury wagons. Its combination of AWD, raised ride height, and a low cargo floor delivers a level of everyday practicality and usability that the average midsize SUV can’t match, while maintaining sedan-like driving dynamics. The cabin is also a premium space, with extremely comfortable seats, pushed to the max in fully loaded Ultra trim, with Nappa leather, a panoramic moonroof, ProPilot Assist, a head-up display, and a Harman Kardon audio system all standard.
Unfortunately, you’ll have to make do with whatever you can still find in a Volvo dealer’s inventory, as the V90 Cross Country is cruising off into the sunset. For those who value wagon practicality and comfort over the ubiquitous SUV form factor, it will go down as one of the greatest hits.
