Overview
The 2026 Volvo V60 Cross Country is a compact luxury crossover wagon in the mold of the now-discontinued Audi A4 Allroad, and is now the only car of its type left on the market. Rivals such as the Audi A6 Allroad and Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain are bigger, midsize cars. The V60 Cross Country bridges the gap between a traditional estate and a compact crossover, with a handy ground clearance of 8.1 inches, as well as hill-descent control and an off-road mode.
A sole 2.0-liter turbocharged mild-hybrid four-cylinder powertrain provides the impetus, delivering 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Just Plus and Ultra trims are offered this year.
What’s New for 2026
The regular non-Cross Country V60 is no longer available with the discontinuation of the high-performance V60 T8 Polestar Engineered. It also means the demise of the 455-hp PHEV powertrain in the V60. Only the high-riding V60 Cross Country remains for MY2026, with the 247-hp mild-hybrid B5 powertrain, in Plus and Ultra trims.
The only other changes to the 2026 V60 Cross Country are to the paint colors: Silver Dawn, Platinum Gray, and Fusion Red are discontinued, while Forest Lake and Aurora Silver are added.
Exterior
Despite its good ground clearance and protective body cladding around the wheel arches, the V60 Cross Country still presents the lower, sleeker profile of a traditional wagon. The front end has the familiar Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs and LED headlights, and in profile, the bright aluminum roof rails are evident, as are the stylish alloy wheels, which measure 18 inches on the Plus and 19 inches on the Ultra, though the Plus can be up-specced to 19s as well.
The distinctive L-shaped vertical LED taillights are present and accounted for, and the overall silhouette is noticeably lower and more elongated than that of a crossover such as the XC60, giving the V60 Cross Country a planted, road-hugging look.

Volvo
Interior
The minimalist Scandinavian cabin is as appealing as ever, despite the advancing years, and has clean lines. Material quality is beyond reproach, with standard leather upholstery, matte lime-wood trim, and soft-feel plastics. Standard features include ambient interior lighting, dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats. The Ultra upgrades to four-zone climate control, Nappa leather, and an Orrefors crystal gear shifter.
The Google Built-In tech offering comprises a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 9-inch portrait-style center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store, and a 10-speaker audio system. The Ultra gets a head-up display and 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio. Cargo space measures between 25.5 cu-ft and a maximum of 60.5 cu-ft with the rear seats folded.

Volvo
Price Range and Best Value Trim
The 2026 Volvo V60 Cross Country’s price has increased by about $2,000 per trim and now starts just over $52K.
| Trim Level | Price |
| Base: B5 Plus AWD | $52,300 |
| Top: B5 Ultra AWD | $57,600 |
The $52,300 Plus is more than generously enough equipped, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, Volvo’s full suite of driver assists, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, a digital gauge cluster, and the Google Built-In infotainment system. The premium Harman Kardon audio is well worth it for $800 extra.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Distinctive wagon design stands out from crossover SUVs
- Standard AWD with 8.1 inches of ground clearance
- Comfortable, well-crafted Scandinavian interior
- Google Built-In with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation
- 26 MPG combined is competitive for an AWD wagon
Cons:
- 247 hp feels adequate rather than quick
- Cargo space trails most crossover SUV competitors
- Limited to a single powertrain with no performance variant
- Infotainment has a learning curve for new users
- Vertical cargo height is lower than SUV alternatives
Verdict
If you’re shopping in the compact category and you refuse to get on the SUV bandwagon, the Volvo V60 Cross Country is your only option left on the market, not that the A4 Allroad is gone. It provides genuine all-weather confidence, a generous 8-inch ground clearance, and a low enough center of gravity to handle like a car, giving a more planted driving experience than an SUV. The cabin is a highlight, with very supportive seats, high-quality materials, and a quiet ride.
The Plus trim is a sweet deal, and you can upgrade to 19-inch wheels and Harman Kardon audio for only $1,600 – still well short of the Ultra. Performance is more than adequate, but the 247-hp powertrain isn’t all that sporty, and cargo space falls short of SUV rivals. If this doesn’t bother you, the V60 Cross Country makes an excellent case for the wagon life.
