Overview

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan is a full-size luxury electric car aimed at buyers who want S-Class-style isolation and comfort in a battery-powered package. Mercedes offers three non-AMG versions here: the RWD EQS 450+, the AWD EQS 450 4Matic (both with 355 hp), and the 536-hp EQS 580 4Matic. AMG-badged versions exist in the broader EQS family conversation, but this review sticks to the standard models only.

What still defines the 2026 EQS Sedan is its serene character. It majors in quietness, range, and a high-tech cabin rather than sharp handling or athletic responses. The 580 brings the quickest acceleration of the three non-AMG trims, but the whole lineup leans more toward comfort and long-distance luxury than outright excitement.

What’s New for 2026?

For 2026, the EQS gets a standard NACS charging adapter so it can access Tesla Supercharger stations. Mercedes also adds two new sound experiences, and the AMG EQS is no longer part of the lineup. Pricing is also lower for 2026, by around $5K at the base level.

Exterior

The EQS keeps its slippery and somewhat amorphous shape and long, low silhouette, and it still looks more like a rolling concept car than a traditional flagship sedan. It’s a very large car, yet standard rear-axle steering helps it feel more manageable in tighter spaces, while the standard air suspension keeps it composed and refined on the move. The rear hides a liftback, not a trunk lid.

Interior

Inside, the EQS nails the luxury brief. The cabin feels plush and roomy up front, the seats are heated and ventilated, and the general atmosphere is exactly what you expect from a six-figure Mercedes. Rear passengers do not get the absolute palace-like space the exterior size suggests, but the second row can still be outfitted with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

Tech is a major part of the EQS experience. A 17.7-inch central touchscreen is standard, and Mercedes’ Hyperscreen setup stretches a digital gauge cluster, central display, and passenger screen under one glass surface. The liftback body also helps practicality, with a wide opening and useful cargo room for a luxury sedan.

Price Range and Best Value Trim

Trim LevelPrice
EQS 450+$99,900
EQS 450 4MATIC$102,900
EQS 580 4MATIC$123,900

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan’s price range spans three main trims, but the EQS 450+ is the best value because it gives you the same 118-kWh battery, the same flagship cabin experience, and the same major EQS selling points for the lowest price in the lineup. Its 355 horsepower is enough for a luxury sedan, and it also delivers the longest EPA-rated range of the three non-AMG models, which makes it the smartest balance of price, power, and everyday usability.

Verdict

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan is at its best when you treat it as an electric luxury cruiser, not a sport sedan. It delivers the kind of hush, ride quality, and tech presence that buyers in this segment expect, and the non-AMG lineup gives you a clear spread from maximum range to stronger straight-line punch.

The EQS 450+ stands out as the one to buy because it costs the least, goes the farthest, and still gives away very little in the areas that matter most for a car like this.
