Overview

The 2025 Genesis GV80 midsize luxury SUV is now offered in traditional GV80 SUV and sleek GV80 Coupe configurations. The GV80 SUV seats five passengers on the 2.5-liter models, with seven-passenger capability on the 3.5-liter variants equipped with a power-folding third row. The 2025 GV80 Coupe eliminates the third row while adding fastback styling.

Three turbocharged engines deliver power through an eight-speed automatic transmission to a standard all-wheel-drive system: a 300-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-four in the SUV models, a 375-horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 in both body styles, and a 409-horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with a 48-volt electric supercharger exclusive to the Coupe.

What’s New for 2025

The 2025 GV80’s comprehensive updates are highlighted by the debut of the GV80 Coupe body style (below left). Exterior revisions include a refreshed diamond-pattern grille (below center) and updated front fascia, and Two-Line Headlamps incorporate Micro Lens Array technology. Four-piston monobloc front brake calipers improve stopping performance on the 2024 GV80. The GV80 Coupe introduces exclusive wheel designs as well.

The 27-inch OLED integrated display (below right) replaces the old separate screens in both the SUV and Coupe. Over-the-air updates enable map and multimedia upgrades, and fingerprint authentication debuts for personalized driver profiles. USB-C ports replace older connectors. An 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen replaces the previous Lexicon premium audio system. Other interior revisions include a redesigned wireless charger, bigger cupholders, new foot pedals, and a crystal-type gear shifter.

Exterior

The Genesis Athletic Elegance design language shapes the Genesis GV80. The shield-shaped Crest Grille features updated diamond patterning flanked by Two-Line Micro Lens Array LED headlamps. The GV80 SUV maintains traditional proportions with a sweeping roofline, while the new 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe adopts a dramatically sloping fastback, creating a coupe-like silhouette despite its four-door configuration.

The GV80 Coupe gains exclusive elements, including a rear spoiler and revised LED taillights. Standard 19-inch wheels on the SUV base model become 20 inches on Select and 22 inches on Prestige. The GV80 Coupe gets 20-inch sport wheels on 3.5T models, upgrading to 22 inches on the e-Supercharger variant. New colors include Storr Green and Storr Green Matte on the GV80 SUV, with exclusive Bering Blue for the Coupe.

Interior

The 27-inch OLED display integrates the instrument cluster and navigation touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enhance connectivity, though early production units required wired connections pending over-the-air updates. Materials improve from leatherette on lower GV80 SUV trims to quilted Nappa leather on Prestige variants, with the GV80 Coupe featuring standard diamond-quilted Nappa leather.

Microfiber suede headliners appear on upper Genesis GV80 trims and both Coupe variants. The 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system delivers exceptional sound quality. A panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, Ergo Motion driver seat with massage, head-up display, and Mood Curator system appear throughout the GV80 lineup. The Coupe adds carbon-fiber trim and alloy pedals on the e-Supercharger model.

Verdict

The 2025 Genesis GV80 SUV offers great value with exceptional content across the trims. The Coupe has a much higher price, with its distinctive styling and an exclusive 409-horsepower e-Supercharger engine. Interior execution rivals vehicles costing significantly more, with the 27-inch display’s clarity and responsiveness impressing.

The SUV’s handling prioritizes comfort, with the Coupe offering firmer suspension. Against the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Audi Q7, the GV80 trades driving dynamics for tangible luxury at lower prices. The GV80 Coupe competes with the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe while undercutting their performance variants. For buyers valuing interior ambiance, material quality, and comprehensive warranty protection, the GV80 delivers compelling luxury.
