Overview
The 2025 Genesis G80 is a midsize luxury sedan that comes with two turbocharged engine options, standard all-wheel drive, and a cabin that offers luxury exceeding its price point. A 300-hp 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder serves as the base powertrain, while the 3.5T Sport trim features a 375-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6. Both engines pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Genesis G80 competes against the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6.
What’s New for 2025
A mild styling update for the 2025 G80 provides a sharper aesthetic, including a revised grille, updated headlights, reworked front and rear bumpers, and fresh wheel designs. Sport trims now include a unique front bumper with larger air intakes, and the grille features a different texture than non-Sport models.
The interior receives bigger changes. Engineers reworked the dashboard to accommodate a new, 27.0-inch OLED display screen that stretches across much of the cabin. The configurable gauge display and the infotainment interface have crisp graphics. New touch-sensitive climate controls integrate neatly at the base of the center console, which also contains updated trim and a new rotary shift knob. Physical volume and tuning knobs return, following customer feedback.
Exterior
The refreshed G80 wears updated Micro Lens Array headlights and a reshaped crest grille. The car retains athletic proportions with a long hood, short front overhang, and a flowing roofline. Base models ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, while Sport Prestige trims utilize 20-inch wheels. Sport models add a more aggressive front bumper and dark chrome accents.

Interior
The centerpiece is the new 27-inch OLED display spanning most of the dashboard. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, and SiriusXM. The base model has a 12-speaker audio system, while upper trims have a 21-speaker Bang & Olufsen setup. Standard equipment includes leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a power trunk. The Advanced trim adds tri-zone climate control, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Only the 3.5T Sport Prestige has Nappa leather upholstery, a head-up display, and power soft-close doors.
Beyond cabin comfort, the sedan protects occupants with a comprehensive safety suite. Every model features 10 airbags, forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot collision-avoidance assist. Additional standard driver-assistance tech includes Highway Driving Assist 2, which maintains speed and lane centering, alongside rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist. This array of intelligent systems helps monitor surroundings, reduces driver fatigue on long journeys, and proactively manages potential road hazards to ensure peace of mind for all passengers.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Interior quality and attention to detail rival cars costing far more
- New 27-inch OLED display is one of the best large screens in the segment
- Industry-leading warranty with 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage
- Standard AWD at prices below German competitors.
Cons:
- Fuel economy trails the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class
- Driving dynamics favor comfort over sportiness, even in Sport trims
- Price advantage over Europeans shrinks on higher trims
- 13.1-cu-ft trunk space falls short of the BMW 5 Series.
Verdict
The Genesis G80 midsize luxury sedan continues to make a strong case as one of the best value propositions in its segment. Its refreshed interior with the 27-inch OLED display feels genuinely premium, and the 2.5T engine provides more than enough performance for most buyers. The ride remains supremely comfortable, and the warranty coverage is unmatched. Furthermore, the standard inclusion of advanced safety and driver-assistance technology confirms its status as a sophisticated choice. While the vehicle lacks the driving thrills of a BMW 5 Series, it offers luxury and refinement that make its German competitors appear overpriced.
