Overview
The 2025 BMW X6 is a midsize luxury coupe SUV that blends five-passenger practicality with coupe-inspired styling. It offers three powertrains: the xDrive40i has a 48-volt mild-hybrid-assisted 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six producing 375 hp, the M60i runs a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 523 hp, and the M Competition pairs this V8 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for 617 hp. Each model uses an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The X6 suits buyers who want distinctive coupe-SUV styling, strong straight-line speed, and sharper handling than a traditional midsize SUV, even if that means sacrificing some cargo space.
What’s New for 2025?
The 2025 X6 carries forward updates introduced in 2024. Those changes include a refreshed exterior design and the addition of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to the xDrive40i. LED headlights with cornering lights come standard.
For 2025, BMW adds minor technology updates. Highway Assistant joins the Driving Assistance Professional Package and enables hands-free driving in certain conditions. For vehicles built in March 2024 or later, Active Lane Change with eye activation allows the driver to initiate a lane change by looking at the corresponding side-view mirror. The Comfort Access BMW Digital Key Plus gets expanded memory and driver-preference features, while BMW Maps and the BMW App also get several updates.

BMW
Exterior
The BMW X6 is what BMW calls a Sports Activity Coupe. It measures 195 inches long and has a wide, planted stance. The front fascia features BMW’s kidney grille with vertical slats, flanked by LED headlamps.
Strong character lines define the sides and emphasize the rear haunches. The roofline slopes sharply toward the rear, forming the coupe-like profile. An integrated rear spoiler finishes off the fastback shape. Standard models ride on 20-inch wheels. The M Competition upgrades to staggered 21-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels.

Interior
The standard BMW Curved Display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch central touchscreen. iDrive 8.5 handles infotainment duties and includes navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Harman Kardon premium audio comes standard on the M60i.
The X6 seats five. Front sport seats include power adjustment and heating. The sloping roofline reduces rear headroom to 37.5 inches, while rear legroom measures 35.7 inches. Features such as ventilated and massaging front seats, heated rear seats, and a head-up display come as options. Upholstery ranges from Sensafin synthetic leather to extended Merino leather, with wood and carbon fiber trim choices.
Cargo space measures 27.4 cu-ft behind the rear seats and expands to 59.6 cu-ft with the seats folded.

Verdict
The BMW X6 combines midsize SUV capability with coupe-inspired design and strong performance across the range, but the base xDrive40i offers the best value trim in the range. It has 375 hp and reaches 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, which is plenty for daily driving, while its combined EPA rating of 24 mpg makes it the most economical as well. At $74,500, the xDrive40i provides the most balanced mix of performance and equipment.
Interior quality meets expectations for the segment, with premium materials and excellent front-seat support. Rear passengers lose some headroom due to the roofline, and the cargo space of 27.4 cu-ft falls short of more traditional SUVs. Handling emphasizes agility and precise steering feedback. The eight-speed automatic shifts smoothly and responds quickly.
Against rivals such as the Porsche Cayenne Coupe, Audi Q8 or the Genesis GV80 Coupe, Range Rover Sport, the X6 delivers competitive performance in a distinctive package. For buyers who prioritize style and sharp dynamics in a luxury SUV, the X6 remains a focused choice.
