Overview
The 2025 Bentley Bentayga ultra-luxury midsize SUV comes in two powertrains in the form of a plug-in hybrid turbocharged V6 and a twin-turbo V8, both paired with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The Bentayga is Bentley’s entry point into the luxury maker’s lineup, yet it still starts north of $200,000, ensuring the marque’s exclusivity remains intact. An extended-wheelbase variant adds seven inches to the wheelbase and delivers limo-grade rear-seat legroom for those who prefer the back seat.

What’s New for 2025
The 2025 Bentayga gains a Black Edition package (above and below) based on the S trim, bringing black-finished 22-inch wheels, black Bentley logos, and black mirror caps to the exterior. Seven accent colors are available for the lower body panels and rear roof spoiler on all Black Edition models. Inside, carbon-fiber trim replaces standard wood, and contrast stitching as well as piping detail are added to the leather upholstery. The base A trim level has been discontinued, narrowing the entry point to the V8 and Hybrid trims.
Exterior
The Bentayga’s large proportions announce its presence through a wide front matrix grille, upswept headlights, and a roofline that tapers toward the rear, albeit without sacrificing headroom. Standard 21-inch wheels fit the base V8 and Hybrid trims, while 22-inch wheels appear on the S, Azure, and Black Edition. The extended-wheelbase model visibly lengthens the rear door section, giving the EWB a distinctly formal stance next to the standard-wheelbase car. The Black Edition’s dark exterior trim, including blacked-out badges and cap mirrors, provides a contrast to the jewel-like chrome detailing that defines the Azure.

Interior
A 10.9-inch touchscreen is standard across all trims, paired with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and a 12-speaker audio system; there is also an optional Naim 20-speaker system, which is one of the most impressive audio upgrades in the segment. Front and rear seating options include individual buckets or a 3-across second-row bench. Extended-wheelbase buyers can specify 22-way-adjustable rear bucket seats that recline up to 40 degrees and offer massage functions, along with optional dual 10.2-inch rear headrest displays and a biometric-lock safe. Bentley’s Mulliner bespoke program allows material and color combinations across nearly every surface.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- 542-hp twin-turbo V8 makes for brisk performance
- Height-adjustable air suspension enables genuine off-road capability
- EWB adds 7 inches of wheelbase for rear-seat comfort
Cons:
- Nearly all driver-assistance features cost extra
- 22-inch wheel package produces an uncomfortable ride on rough roads
- Three-year warranty undercuts Cullinan’s four-year coverage
Verdict
Almost every driver-assistance feature is optional on the Bentayga, a stark contrast to rivals like the BMW X7 and Cadillac Escalade where similar technology comes standard. The new S Black Edition targets buyers who want the V8’s performance with a more aggressive visual identity, though it does nothing to close the technology gap. On the road, the V8’s 568 lb-ft of torque gives the Bentayga athletic capability that the Cullinan cannot match, and the cabin’s hand-stitched leather and knurled metal detailing elements remain the benchmark in the segment.
