Overview

The 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron compact luxury electric SUV is built on the same MEB platform as the VW ID.4, and it comes in two powertrain variants – the rear-wheel-drive 282-horsepower Q4 45 and the all-wheel-drive 335-hp Q4 55. There’s also a Q4 Sportback 55, which sports a sleeker, coupe-style body. All models share the same 82-kWh battery that can be charged at up to 175 kW, replenishing it from 10-80% in 28 minutes. The maximum range of 288 miles applies to the Q4 45, with the 55 dropping to 258 miles.

As Audi’s cheapest EV in the compact SUV space, the Q4 e-tron competes with the Volvo EX40, BMW iX3, and Cadillac Optiq. It’s meant for buyers who want a premium electric SUV in a compact package.

What’s New for 2025?

The 282-hp Q4 45 RWD powertrain is new on the 2025 Q4 e-tron, replacing last year’s 201-hp Q4 40 trims and usefully improving performance. Audi has also tweaked the steering and suspension to improve ride and handling. A new style of 21-inch alloy wheel has also become available.

The Cold Weather package for the 55 now contains a heat pump and a heated windshield, while all trims get the previously optional Technology package with an Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus digital gauge cluster, built-in navigation, traffic-sign recognition, and Audi Connect as standard.

Exterior

The Q4 e-tron’s styling is typical of modern Audi EVs and looks suitably premium, with its slim LED headlights, a close Singleframe grille panel, sculpted sides with blistered arches, and LED taillights. The Sportback has a stylish, coupe-like sloping rear roofline. The Q4 e-tron rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, but different styles in up to 21 inches are available. The car is 180.6-180.7 inches long and sits on a 108.7-inch wheelbase

Interior

All 2025 Q4 e-trons now come with a 10.25-inch Audi Digital Cockpit Plus gauge cluster, which is accompanied by an 11.6-inch MMI touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and an 8-speaker audio system. An augmented-reality head-up display is available. Standard features include heated front seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, tri-zone climate control, ambient lighting, adaptive cruise control, and a suite of other driver assists.

Rear legroom is good at 37.2 inches, while rear headroom is 38.3 inches (that figure drops to 37 inches on the Sportback). Cargo space is 24.8 cu-ft with the rear seat up and 53.1 cu-ft with it down. Strangely, the Sportback’s figures of 26.1 and 54.4 cu-ft are better, not worse.

Price Range and Best Value Trim

The 2026 Audi Q4 e-tron’s price of $49,800 applies to the base 45 Premium, which delivers 288 miles and 282 hp. The Premium Plus adds a power passenger seat, a wireless charging pad, a power liftgate, keyless entry, and SiriusXM, among other features.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Starting at $49,800, the Q4 45 delivers 288 miles of range and 282 hp as the most accessible Audi EV, undercutting the BMW iX1 and Volvo EX40
  • DC fast charging at 175 kW (10-80% in 28 min) is fairly competitive, but the 82-kWh battery doesn’t provide class-leading range
  • Rear headroom of 38.3 inches, legroom of 37.2, and up to 56.1 cu ft of folded cargo (Sportback) make the Q4 one of the most practical compact EVs

Cons:

  • Top speed limited to 99 mph, unusually low for a premium brand, and potentially disappointing on unrestricted highways
  • The Q4 55 Quattro loses 30 miles of range versus the Q4 45, dropping from 288 to 258 miles with the added front motor weight
  • Rear drum brakes are an unexpected cost-cutting measure on a vehicle starting at $50K

Verdict

The Audi Q4 e-tron brings premium quality to the compact EV segment, and it starts at a competitive sub-$50K price. This year’s power and range improvements do a lot to bring the Audi up to the class average, but some rivals still charge faster and go farther on a charge. The cabin feels authentically Audi and is roomy, though the Sportback loses some rear headroom. The improved Q4 e-tron is ideal for people looking for an accessible premium-badge compact electric crossover.
