Overview

The 2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a compact luxury SUV built on the Giorgio platform it shares with the Giulia sedan, applying that architecture’s handling priorities to a taller, more practical body style. Every model runs the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 280 horsepower through an eight-speed automatic with all-wheel drive standard.

A carbon fiber driveshaft and the 50/50 front-to-rear weight balance are traits that no direct competitor in this segment can claim. The cabin seats five and adds genuine liftgate utility over the Giulia while retaining the same driver-oriented cockpit layout.

What’s New for 2025?

Alfa Romeo consolidates the previous Sprint, Ti, and Veloce grades into a single base configuration for the 2025 Stelvio, supported by optional Veloce, Active Driver Assist, and Premium Interior and Sound packages. Rear-wheel drive is no longer offered, and the Quadrifoglio and its 505-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 are discontinued. The Intensa and Tributo Italiano limited-production special editions launch alongside the standard model. Verde Fangio Metallic is added as a new exterior color.

Exterior

The long hood and short rear overhang give the Stelvio proportions that reflect the Giorgio platform’s performance origins rather than a conventional utility vehicle look. The triangular Scudetto grille sits between bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, a front end that has maintained its character across multiple model years.

Standard 19-inch alloy wheels equip the base model, while the optional Veloce Package adds 20-inch sport wheels with red brake calipers. The Tributo Italiano goes further with 21-inch dark aluminum wheels, gloss-black roof rails, and Italian flag mirror cap accents. At 184.6 inches overall length, the Stelvio is shorter than most segment rivals.

Interior

The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster offers three configurable display layouts, keeping vehicle information in the driver’s sightline without demanding attention toward the center stack. Infotainment runs through an 8.8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a smaller screen than those fitted to its competitors. Leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and wireless charging are all standard without option upgrades. Rear passengers have 31.9 inches of legroom, the tightest interior dimension on the platform.

Price Range and Best Value Trim

The 2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio’s price range spans three configurations across a spread of roughly $7,000. Adding the optional Veloce Package to the base model for $2,025 delivers a limited-slip differential, sport seats with power bolsters, and 20-inch wheels, making it the strongest value in the range.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Carbon-fiber driveshaft and 50/50 weight distribution are class-exclusive
  • All-wheel drive and 280 hp produce a quick claimed 5.4-second 0-60 time
  • Leather seating, heated front and rear seats, and wireless charging are standard

Cons

  • Rear legroom and cargo capacity are the lowest figures in the segment
  • The 8.8-inch infotainment screen is small and dated
  • A 4-year powertrain warranty weakens the long-term ownership case

Verdict

The 2025 Stelvio is a focused product, and for that, it does have a fair few weaknesses against its rivals. The turbocharged four-cylinder pulls cleanly, and the Stelvio’s handling prowess is revered, making for an engaging driving experience. The simplified lineup removes the complexity of previous trims, and the base equipment list covers daily essentials without option packages.

Adding the Veloce Package is the right move for most buyers, as the limited-slip differential and sport seats complete the performance argument without escalating to either special edition. Buyers who need a more capable infotainment system, rear space, or longer warranty coverage will find the BMW X3 or Audi Q5 more complete, but neither delivers what the Stelvio does from behind the wheel.
