The 2026 Toyota 4Runner in a Nutshell

What started out as a Hilux with a fiberglass top has become one of Toyota’s consistently sold-sellers. The 4Runner made its mark early in the SUV game, and it’s been around for over 40 years now. If anything, it’s the only one among its original peers to stick to its original formula.

The 4Runner is now in its sixth generation and totally redesigned for the 2025 model year. It shares the same underpinnings as the Land Cruiser 250, although the 4Runner has been based on the smaller Land Cruiser Prado since the mid-’90s. Given that it’s fresh off a full model change, it carries over unchanged into 2026.

Final Thoughts

No, it won’t drive or ride like a crossover, but the 4Runner has an honest charm to it nonetheless. That said, it’s rugged without being uncomfortable, and its off-road capabilities are definitely worth a shout-out. It’s then wrapped in a package that’s unmistakably 4Runner, all while incorporating neat modern tech. It’s also a lot less expensive than its boxier twin, the Land Cruiser 250, so there’s pretty good value here too.
