A sharper deal on BMW’s electric sedan

The i4 has quickly become one of BMW’s most important EVs, showing how the brand can adapt its classic sport sedan formula to the electric age. It offers the kind of style, handling, and daily practicality that long-time BMW drivers expect, while also attracting shoppers who might otherwise be eyeing a Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2, or Mercedes EQE.

With September’s lease specials, BMW is aiming to lower the barrier to entry, giving buyers another reason to consider its sleek electric four-door.

Updates for the 2025 model year

The latest i4 brings minor styling tweaks along with BMW’s updated iDrive 8.5 infotainment system, which merges a digital gauge cluster and central touchscreen into a single curved display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and over-the-air updates help keep the system fresh.

On the performance side, the lineup hasn’t lost its edge. The eDrive40 produces 335 horsepower with a range of roughly 300 miles, while the xDrive40 adds a second motor for extra grip. The M50 remains the performance flagship, cranking out 536 horsepower and sprinting to 60 mph in under four seconds, all while maintaining over 250 miles of estimated range.

Why the i4 still stands out

Where some EVs lean heavily on efficiency or futuristic design, the i4 keeps its focus on the driving experience. It’s quiet and refined, but still feels like a true BMW behind the wheel. Add in a practical hatchback trunk with more than 45 cubic feet of space with the seats folded, and it’s easier to live with than its coupe-like shape might suggest.

Final thoughts

The EV market is packed with fresh competitors, but the i4 continues to hit a sweet spot between fun and functionality. With September’s lease incentives and loyalty offers, it’s a good time to take a closer look if you’ve been considering making the jump to electric.
