Vaughn Gittin Jr. hoons his new 900-hp Mustang

He's a master drifter, he's powered by Ford, and sponsored by Monster Energy. Nope, we're not talking about Ken Block. We're talking about the other guy: Vaughn Gittin Jr. And he's here to show off his new 900-horsepower Mustang.

The winner of the 2010 Formula D Championship, Gittin is one of the top drifters on the sideways scene. He's won seven Formula D events, putting him in rare company alongside the likes of Rhys Millen and Tanner Foust. He's won a handful of events in D1 Grand Prix as well, making him the first foreign driver to beat the Japanese pros at their own game and one of only a handful of drivers to win events in both series.

Aside from his own on-track antics, Gittin is also the creator of the Mustang RTR – like the one he drives on track and the one you can buy for the street. The road version is pretty serious, but Vaughn's latest track version packs a suitably monstrous 900 horses, making it one of the most powerful pony cars out there.

You'll be able to see it in action this coming weekend when the championship kicks off on the Streets of Long Beach. But if you can't wait that long, you can get a taste of what's to come in the minute-long clip above. Fortunately he's sponsored by Nitto Tires, so he won't be paying for all that burnt rubber out of pocket.
