2016 Toyota Prius gets first official teaser image

It's Just Black And Red, And It Matches Our Spy Shots

/
I'm sure there will be some of you who will point out that as Toyota prepares to show off the new 2016 Prius next week, it's starting with the rear end. So far, reactions to the spy photos of the redesigned, fourth-gen version of the world's most popular hybrid – especially the front fascia – have not been kind. Perhaps by holding off on showing too much before the official reveal, Toyota can keep the negative comments to a minimum. Perhaps not.

In either case, here you go. To tease those of you still waiting to see what the car will look like, the red tail light above is all that Toyota is sharing right now of the new Prius. For what it's worth, the lines match up perfectly with the spy shots of the new Prius' tail lights, as you can see in the gallery below.

While we're getting a good idea what the new more "heart racing" Prius will look like, we don't know exactly how efficient it will be or when it will go on sale. We expect something around 55 miles per gallon, but nothing is official just yet. The complete details on this new hybrid should be available next week at a big reveal event in Las Vegas. We'll be on hand and you'll be able to watch a livestream here.
