Volvo teases still more luxurious XC90 for Shanghai

Expect to see some real luxury from Volvo at this year's Shanghai Motor Show. Just a few days ago, the Swedish brand showed off the XC90 Excellence with upscale features like reclining rear chairs, intricately folding tray tables and a set of crystal glasses. Now we have this video, teasing an even more opulent model of the new crossover.

Volvo's glimpse here certainly doesn't give much away, but Senior Vice President of Design Thomas Ingenlath does show off one of the new variant's odder features. Called the Lounge Console, this XC90 ditches one of the front seats and replaces it with at least a coat rack and heaps of legroom (though, there must be more). Ingenlath also asserts the model is "taking luxury to a brand new level."

With this version and the Excellence, Volvo is definitely trying to present itself as a top luxury brand to prospective Chinese buyers in Shanghai. It will be interesting to see how far the brand will take lavishness at the show.
