Italian website Quattroroute has what appears to be the first spy photos of the new Fiat 500. Snapped while it was driving the streets of Turin, the heavy cladding obscures all the 500's key details, but the shape is there, as are the round headlights.
The full gallery of photos has clear shots of the side and rear of the little Fiat as well. Interest is only going to build as the car sneaks out in public in advance of its 2007 release. In Europe, it should cause a senastion, given the love for the classic 500 it's meant to emulate.
For North Americans, the release of these spy photos signals the official start of the jealousy phase. At this time there's no plan for Fiat to make a return on this side of the Atlantic. Too bad. A modern/retro Fiat 500 might be just the thing to get people here interested again.
