Ford's much-anticipated turnaround plan will debut Monday, but the
rumor mill is already running at full speed. Following on the heels of an earlier rumor of five plant closings (no big surprise there), comes today's glimpse behind the curtain, a report that Ford will announce a new direction for its
minivans.
Reuters reports that the revamped minivans will follow a design similar to the Fairlane concept
station wagon
"people mover" displayed at the 2005 Detroit
Auto Show (and shown above).
If nothing else, the rumor confirms that Ford's plan is not just about cost cutting. Monday should be an interesting day.
