VW unveiled the Passat VR6 at the Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance car show in Michigan yesterday. The VR6 is all grown up now displacing a healthy 3.6L and producing 280 horsepower, which surpasses the innovative but much maligned W8 motor it replaces in the all-new sixth generation Volkswagen Passat. The base engine for the Passat will be the 200-hp 2.0T four-cylinder that will eventually wind up in the Jetta GLI.
