Want to watch two of the fastest production automobiles in the world line up on an open runway to race? Want to see it happen a whole bunch of times?

We thought so. Featuring the well-known Bugatti Veyron in one lane and the less-well-known but just as impressive Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra – which is powered by the same 1,040-horsepower twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 engine as other Agera S models, but with some extra lightweight bits along with lots and lots of gold – in the other, you can rest assured that the video down below is full of carbon fiber, booming exhaust notes, turbo whine and asinine acceleration. And, though we won't spoil the results, we think it may be full of surprising victories for those who don't keep tabs on such important figures as power-to-weight ratios and the like...

Now for the disclaimers. Are both drivers aware of how to extract maximum performance from their machines? Are they both in perfect states of tune? Would the result be different from a standing start? Was the fact that the video was shot at Koenigsegg's home track a display of favoritism? Was there a full moon the night before? We have no idea. That said, watching well over 2,000 horsepower line up for a race is nearly always worth watching. So, without further ado, we present the video below.

If the results are real than damn the agera is fast and made the vegron seem like it was standing still. Idk I wanna hear beep beep beep this was boring. But bravo to agera

Personally I have a hard time believing the Veyron got walked on that hard. I suppose it is possible because the Agera is so much lighter, but that was a huge difference between the two and the Veyron isn't exactly slow. The driver seemed very timid. What I find most of the time with these comparison videos is that it comes down to a good driver vs. a bad driver, hopefully that isn't the case here, but the Veyron's owner / driver did seem hesitant.

Not really. Better power to weight, higher redline, supercharger vs turbo (faster spool), smaller engine (Less rotating mass), and a rolling start. All of it gives the Agera the advantage. If it had been a standing drag race, the Veryon would probably have been faster esp. off the line since it has launch control, more torque, and AWD.

You've got a couple million $$ in those 2 cars and you couldn't spring for a higher quality production?!? See Kim DotCom's video of when he rented out the 'Ring - that's how it's done!

or maybe the video was done by m5board.com and the car owners had nothing else to do but race

I would take the Koenigsegg any day. I dont care if the Bugatti can beat it off the line or have a faster official top speed. The Koenigsegg is more of a drivers car. And I think the Bugatti would get boring after like a month.

i don't quite think the Bugatti will get old in one month, but definitely it's not the drivers car here.. heck i'd take a 458 Italia over both of them without thinking twice - that is way more of a real drivers car than both of these machines together... and i have the tractor sounding engines.

So the Veyron is overrated...I knew that as soon as I seen the documentary on it and realized that the car was engineered by making compensations for how heavy that boulder turd of an engine was. All that wasted engineering because they wanted it to drive nice around town. Little did they know much smaller and lighter engines have been putting out the same kind of power with the same drive-ability since the invention of ECU's.

A Veyron is faster than a CCXF, so either the Agera R is WAAAAAY faster than the CCXF or the Veyron wasn't trying.

I would have liked to see a standing mile from both of these cars. I wonder if the Agera has the P/W advantage over the Veyron to make up for a 2WD launch.

Totally agree, I want 20 of those minuets back! I was so excited to see this: what an amateur production. I'm glad the owners were willing to do it but it kind of sucked.

" News on ABG: Tesla Racing Another electric powered object: Tesla vs.... a Toaster" Seriously though; Instead of racing a tesla against another electric car, A Leaf, or a 8 year old dodge viper; Why don't they race it against something that is about in the same price range: Like a 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 (667 hp). That'll be a fair race

I feel like the Agera was a labor of love and innovation. I've always felt the Veyron was simply an overpowered machine with a ridiculous price tag, tacky paint/chrome color body scheme that was simply insistent on its price tag and status representation. On the other hand, I'm actually surprised to see how amazing the Agera is. Although I have to say the stitch working on the Agera interior is borderline fugly, and not a huge fan of gold/black.

Great comment and totally agree. I don\'t see the love in the Veyron. Its interesting too, because the same comment was made by Jeremy Clarkson on Bentley which is also in the VW Group (he compared it to Rolls Royce). It just doesn\'t capture you the same way. Frankly though, Audi is remarkably aware and is going to spend billions on catching up to that spirit that the BMW group provides. This is not a bias comment and I\'m not a BMW fanboy. There were several articles (and one on AB) stating this. I am frankly dying to get my hands on the new A3. If they bring us the hatchback, I would gladly move to Brooklyn so I have somewhere to park it. (Yes, I have my priorities straight, that\'s why I\'m on AB)

lol. you're joking right? The Veyron is the benchmark of engineering, passion, and innovation. The Bugatti is ALL ABOUT the details and the engineering....if you think it's all about 'status' and not about performance....you should probably rethink your ability to objectively analyze things.

The Veyron (without SS) is quite an old car. It'd be shocking if after so many years a highly specialized niche manufacturer wouldn't be able to come up with something faster. Let's see though, 30 years from now, how much each of the cars is worth and for which one you can still find replacement parts...
