These are the kinds of activities that one may conjure up and say "what if?" but few ever actually follow through on. That said, we don't recommend trying this at home (err... your "home" canal, that is).

The video, by Devin Graham, perhaps inaccurately named "Ghetto Wakeboarding," shows a pack of suburban kids towing a series of wakeboard-riding daredevils down a rural canal by way of Jeep Wrangler. It looks like a heck of a lot of fun.

We say that the video may be inaccurately named, because we could never envision this taking place in the ghetto. As a matter of fact, this looks like a pretty well-to-do group of teens, on a pristine late-model Jeep and filmed on a Canon 5D Mark III– not an inexpensive piece of equipment by any stretch.

Click below to check out the video, which bears a passing resemblance to a late-1990s jeans commercial.

One of my friends that grew up in California's central valley used to do this in the early 90's... only they were using water skiis and a beat-up farm truck. That all came to a halt when they didn't see a cow that had fallen into the canal and drowned, and was in a pretty deep state of decomposition. The skiier hit the bloated, putrid cow, causing it to burst and shower quite a few people with dead beef. Yuck. Watch out for cows, dudes.

What, you didn't have your iPhone or video-capturing dlsr camera handy back in the 90s? You know, back when you could do dumb things and generally not have them recorded for eternity because there were only $1000 1 megapixel digicams and video tape camcorders? *worthless*

"ghetto" is often an adjective used to describe something that is put together on the cheap or half-assedly. Does not necessarily mean an inner-city slum.

Hey guys, thanks for the post! We really appreciate it. We'll keep making videos so long as you keep posting them (or we run out of girls, whichever comes first)

do your homework 'fake' journos, wakeboarding you have bindings and your feet are immoblile like a snowboard, this is wakeskating, no bindings skateshoes and griptape on top, like skateboarding or skimboarding

Actually the video features both. The freeze frame in the embedded video is a wakeboard though.

      It's a TJ. Hardly a "pristine late-model Jeep."

I'm kinda surprised at how good the drivers are. They're doing a pretty skillful job for something that could get people hurt otherwise.
