The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is the 740-horsepower replacement for the 620-hp 599 GTB. However, when EVO wanted to put the F12 in context for its review, the magazine didn't use the 599 GTB, it used the 661-hp 599 GTO as the comparator. The point was to see how well the newest in the line of Ferrari's front-engined V12s stood up against the highest and hardest-edged iteration of the last.

We've read about the quickness of the F12's steering rack and its devotion to tail-happy action, and none of that has interrupted the hosannas for the overall package. The 599 GTO was quite a different car than its donor GT in temperament and performance, but how the F12 and 599 GTO compare, exactly where each might have it over the other, provides for a result in EVO's opinion that might surprise. There's seven minutes of cornering, drifting and analysis in the video below.

Another awesome Ferrari.. Only critique I have on the video is at some point is like to see people drive proper lines and how the car is actually on a track instead of just drifting and making a spectacle.. As cool as it looks, I'd like to know the real car

The next Enzo/F70 would likely come mighty close to 4 digits, with an estimated 900+hp combined...weighing a fraction of the weight of the Bugatti and to channel that insanity to just the rear tires.

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is a beast.. I wonder what ferrari will hit the 1000hp mark from factory. I think I love the front end... but im not sold on the rear in terms of looks. Comes off as a wagon or something from the back....

It is kind of ugly and hot at the same time, but it is a V12 Ferrari pushing 740hp, so what's not to like, well other than the thong on the back. There is not a single person here that would not take this car in a heartbeat if they had the opportunity. I imagine in real life it looks pretty epic too.

I'll wait til Chris Harris put his hands on this car, "this is good, that felt good, I like this car" wont cut it for technical review. Awesome video tho, EVO, thx.

I have had the honor of driving the f430. It screams and is a visual masterpiece. I do not like the 458 much. Now this v12 has me lusting again. If I had the opportunity, I would have this baby in white. Give me 3-4 years and I would love a chance at owning this wonderful machine. "Looks like a BRZ/FRS"? Not even close. And I am sure it drives nothing like it.

You notice it's only the people who have never driven these kinds of cars or been in them who are criticizing the F12?

Yup. This year is my 10th year of racing and I've been taught and coached by national champions in several sports. Been in Carrera GTs, driven Lotuses, Porsches, custom race cars that made 320whp and weighed 1100lbs, karts, CL63 AMGs etc etc. I always laugh when I give my opinion and you get these guys who discount what I say because I'm not an automotive journalist. I get a good laugh out of it. A majority of the time you find they have no seat time, but they are highly experienced magazine and bench racers. They are always the first people to criticize pointless things on cars like these.

People tend to talk about things they haven't experienced. In general. How can you discount something that you never experienced?

Yep. I sure did notice. It is pretty sad and pathetic.

As far as looks go i feel like the front fascia resembles a dragon face. maybe ferrari is subtlely trying to appeal to the emerging supercar market in China? not a huge fan of the design as a ferrari but who cares this caris still stunning compared to 99% of the other vehicles on the road. also, was it just me or did this video lack an actual verdict? still i would do some very regrettable things to have his job

The same car designer for both cars and many others as well. Its not a big deal at all.
