Jeri Ellsworth on building a race car – Click above to view video after the jump

Jeri Ellsworth is a certified renaissance woman. A high school and college dropout, she's a self-taught computer programmer and an ace welder and circle track race car builder. She has also started her own race car building business while her peers were at prom and went on to open a chain of computer shops.

More recently, Ellsworth has taken to YouTube to show aspiring NASCAR-types how a street stock racer should be built. Ellsworth is extremely careful and meticulous, knocking out some seriously pretty welds on her way to completing a 1981 Chevrolet Camaro racer.

Her work (and plumber's crack), looks to be enough to impress embarrass all of her male peers, both in the garage and on the race track. To check out Ellsworth's skill, hit up the video after the jump. It's the first in a series, so if you like what you see, we urge to watch 'em all.

Jeri is the talented in so many areas. The best part is that she shares her knowledge with everyone. She has over 200 videos on Youtube and nearly everyone of them is a tutorial. She gets my respect, not because she is a she, but because she is a genius that goes out of her way to teach others.

Hmmm. I'm not gender bashing here, but she strikes me as someone who gets off on trying to impress others...right down to her hipster Samba II's. But hey, if this was a dude in the video, it wouldn't even get 250 hits...now would it? However, we're dudes and we'll look at any crack on any female. I just think it would be more entertaining if there was no sound and she was baking a pie or Swiffering the floors. Know what I mean? Go ahead and thumbs down me...I don't live and die by anonymous Caesars.

What gets my goat is that people aren't taking it for what it is. Yeah she is a woman, but who gives a rat's ass? Every other comment is a sex/asscrack/marriage joke. Its a person talking about circle track racing. Hold the damn phone, I can't believe it. It's in the same vain as Obama being elected president. So the dude is black, so what? In such a modern time, for as many stereotypes there are, there is very little actual adversity presented for him to over come. Then skeptics like you and me come out of the woodwork at arms against all of the guys with boners, or guys who don't actually respect black people accuse us of being racist and sexist. I like her videos, and damn it, I like her Samba II's. Then why does every part of this seem to orbit around her asscrack. She needs a fat lesbian stand it. Or better yet, she could direct the videos, and have a naked Clint Howard pretend to do the work.

See...that's the problem: There are thousands of car construction videos on YouTube, but this one was selected by the author EXACTLY because she's a woman. Alas the rub: We shouldn't care that it's a woman in the video, but the reason the video is presented is because she's a woman. And that's why it's sort of a joke. But hey fellas, go burn your bras if it makes you feel even keel.

I've met Jeri a few times and she's without a doubt the real deal. My take is that a better way of phrasing it would be that she gets off on building ****, and could honestly give a **** about how whether someone else is impressed with it or not. One of the smartest and most impressive people I've ever met.

I had no idea what "Samba II's" even were until I just Googled it, so the simple fact that you knew what they were and felt the need to comment on them for some reason proves to me that not only are YOU the shallow hipster, but you are also projecting those inadequacies onto her for some reason. If the video had Jay Leno with his denim shirt (that you seem to be the type that would comment on) I'd still watch it because of the subject matter. The fact that Jeri's quite easy on the eyes is just a bonus.

And in comes M7 with his inferior knowledge... Well first off, you're thinking about road courses. This car is being built for circle track racing, specifically dirt oval. Hence the numerous "Pure Stock" references in the video. Secondly, the Camaro, especially that generation Camaro, had numerous victories and championships in the SCCA Trans Am Series. Which, by the way, is a road course only racing series. It raced against your precious Japanese and European cars in the same series.
