Looking for a heads up on what's coming down the pipe from Maranello? All you have to do is listen carefully to what Luca di Montezemolo has to say. The affable Ferrari chief has a penchant for leaking information on upcoming models before they arrive. This time, he is promising "a very different new Ferrari."

Different how? In speaking with French sports publication L'Equipe, Montezemolo declared, "You will discover at the Geneva Motor Show a very different new Ferrari that proves that we adapt as the world changes." Interesting. And while we won't know for certain what form that proof will take, the Marquis seems to be hinting at something with a reduced environmental impact.

At the Paris Motor Show earlier this year, Ferrari unveiled a California with the HELE system – incorporating stop-start ignition, intelligent engine cooling, variable air-con and adaptive shift algorithms – and it showed the 599 HY-KERS hybrid prototype in Geneva last March. Will the next Swiss salon hold another green showcar for us, or will the Prancing Horse marque gallop its environmental obligations into something for production?

I already have negative respect for Ferrari because of their terrible designs as of late, but so help me god if Ferrari makes a 'cygnet,' I will hate everything they do and everything they have ever done.

I swear if it's an electric or hybrid Ferrari I'm going to take the poster off the wall!

Yeah I think you might be disappointed. At least it will be based on F1 tech.

Heres to hoping Ferrari doesn't jump in with Aston Martin and Porsche and create a fugly overpriced four-door.

Very different is an obvious indication of some sort of hybrid system......hopefully!

I'm optimistically keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be a more developed, or even drivable version of the Millechili concept.

I BET it's gonna be a blown 4-banger. The new F1 rules require that all engines must be 4 cylinders, and i bet Ferrari would try bolting theirs into a road going car since an engine fit for F1 racing I believe would be fit for a brand as uppity as Ferrari. The only challenge is modifying it in such a way that would make it usable on a day to day basis rather than requiring a rebuild after every chore.

Thinking maybe something along the lines of a Volt but by Ferrari? That would be different by their standards.

I wouldn't mind seeing a baby Ferrari. Something that comes in around $100k would be cool.
