2010 Saleen S281 Mustang Preview - Click above for a high-res image gallery

Newly formed Saleen Performance Vehicles released their first 2010-based Mustang, the 435S, this past summer, but the lack of any significant design upgrades left us wanting something a little more. We knew an S281 model was soon to follow, and thanks to Saleen's Flickr page, we now know the car will make its debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. The three photos posted on the site actually provide a decent look at the front and rear of the car, and we especially like what's been done to the 2010 Stang's controversial rear with the elongated tail and the diffuser-style rear valence. Check back for full details and plenty of photos when we cover the 2010 Saleen S281 Mustang's live unveiling early next month. Thanks for the tip, Brandon!

Ditto. The new 'Stang really needs the black tailight filler panel.

Is it just me, but I hate the fake diffuser styleee things on the back of cars and even SUV's now. Is this car an F1 car generating 750kg's of downforce, or an Le mans car traveling at 230mph, I dont think so. So scrap the fake plastic stuff, including the vents..... Rant over.

I agree with you on fake stuff, but the diffuser is not necessarily non-functional. From what I understand, the lower rear valance strakes smooth out air coming from underneath the car, creating less turbulence at the rear, reducing drag and improving high speed stability. I don't think it's about downforce.

Shame on SPV, you are misleading Dealers and Customers by putting Steve Saleen's name on this vehicle. The real Saleen vehicle can be found at SMS! Trying to cash in on the Saleen name makes you a JOKE in the high performance market.

Saleen isn't Saleen without Steve Saleen and Phil Frank designing the car...

Yuck! I think Saleens days are over...and have been for a few years now. There best designs were back during 94-04. The best Mustangs are still the traditional GT and Shelby GT500. Mustangs are awesome cars straight from Ford...but I cant help but hate all of the ones that are sold with Roush ans Saleen kits on them. There should not be all these after-market companies who offer dozens of styling versions of the Mustang. Keep the Mustang purely Ford in regards to looks. With that being said...I'll take a 2010 Mustang Shelby Convertible please.

Like their ever popular stock rear end?

i've always loved what saleen does with the relatively boring platform, and this looks like it's going to be one of the best.

let's remember you're paying for a saleen, not a ford

on the side note, I think this is better than the SMS version. 10 times better and I think the SMS is a kool stang.
