Bertone Project M episode VII reveals ZR1-based Mantide in all its glory [w/VIDEO]

For fans of Italian automotive design, it's been a deliciously torturous process to watch the slow, webisode-by-webisode reveal of Stile Bertone's highly anticipated Project M, but we've just about made it to the end. After revealing the car's underpinnings as those of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and revealing its name ("I always thought M was a randomly assigned initial, I had no idea it stood for...") Mantide, the latest installment has just hit the intertubes to reveal the concept supercar in all its glory.
The finished Mantide cuts an intriguingly aggressive shape, and you can immediately identify that it's been styled by the same hand as the one responsible for various Ferraris of late. Mantide?
MAN Tide?
Really?
Egads. If I HAD the money to buy this, I think I'd pay double to get them to change the name before I drove around...

Hasbro called, they want their kids car back.
Come on! What a cartoon!
Know when to say when next time...
Is this timeless? No way

I think its gorgeous. Just change the RIMS PLEASE!
I think they are the reason people have doubts about the design :)

It's pronounced MAN-tih-day.

It's not the rims for me...it's the perforated front grille and fender openings. Also, the angular wheel arches aren't really working. I feel like if those things were changed...it would be pretty nice to look at.
Although, I do have to mention that for a front engined car, that blindspot is absurdly huge.

the early 90's called, they want their concept back...
Anyone remember the Pontiac Banshee? I guess that was late 80's...

How are we supposed to send it back to the 90s? It ain't a DeLorean...

Is it just me or do they hate the front of they're own vehicle? They avoid continually in the video and the provided pictures.

Either that or they're obsessed with the back end. Maybe they're just butt people instead of face people.

Points for being exotic, but the ZR1 looks better untouched.

same here just give me a zr1 this thing is hideous.

Not sure I find this thing and the ZR1 comparable at all. Neither are what one would call "pretty", but the Mantide is at least interesting. The Vette is basically awesome performance in a completely forgettable design. It's like a super rental car. Especially on the inside, where Playskool could have been contracted for better work.

Now thats a real hypercar !

Yeah, hyperugly.
I'm sorry, but that is a hideous design.

I like it too, racewithferrari.
Everyone has opinions. This looks sweet, I think it's too radical for some though...

i agree there is something there that i really like...great form...especially how the body side shrinks to the tail light, and some really great ribbion that reminds me of the guy from the angry car designer blog. Having said that, this thing needs to be leaner. its kinda chunky. but great job indeed.
