HSV Tourer super-wagon set to haul stuff, ass

Like the sedan and ute before it, the Holden Commodore Sportwagon will also soon have a corresponding HSV performance variant. The HSV Tourer is essentially an HSV Clubsport R8 Wagon, as it features the muscle sedan's front clip and 425-horsepower (317kW) LS3 V8 powertrain. Look for it to arrive arrive in Australia this October and in the U.S. as a Pontiac, well, never. (Pontiac has no plans to bring over the Commodore Sportwagon, remember.)
HSV admits that the Tourer could take some sales away from the Clubsport R8 upon which it's based, but that the presence of the wagon in the now-complete HSV lineup should still help HSV's sales numbers overall. Drive.com.au notes that the Commodore Sportwagon was supposed to launch back in March, but has been delayed while Holden continues to work out kinks with the wagon bodystyle. We expect to get plenty more info on the HSV Tourer closer to its launch, but today, we're more bummed than ever that Pontiac isn't importing the Commodore Sportwagon. Imagine what the possibilities could have been... Pontiac G8 Safari GXP? Not bad. And unfortunately, not gonna happen.

Phew...that was a close call. I thought they were going to announce its release here in the US. Good thing they know that us americans don't appreciate wagons of any kind, especially sports wagons.

Safari GXP? I frigging love it.
I just gotta love a car that slays many sports cars and is as practical as many suv's.
Seating for five and their luggage with an awesome track time.

Why won't GM swap the fugly Pontiac grills with the HSV hotness? It's the only thing keeping me from taking Pontiac seriously... I would never drive a car with looks closer to a G5 than its Australian cousin. Hell, maybe just throw out Pontiac all together and adopt the entire Holden lineup over here. ANYTHING but the current state of affairs they have. There is definitely a problem when the Generals best looking sports sedan (not luxury, Caddi's look amazing) is a Saab...

You know you can buy one and replace it with a Holden/HSV fascia for a few hundred bucks, right?

Headline reminds me of the old 454SS sales slogan- "like a corvette.....that hauls"
The old GTO could manage high 20's on the freeway, when opted with the manual trans. This should do the same.

Not bad, although I don't really like the wheels or the Holden grill. Would be awesome with the chevy front end and some real muscle car wheels.

Looks like there's a fight brewing right above this...
I'm on the Pro-Holden side myself.

Guys this isn't the Holden front clip, it's the Holden Special Vechicles clip so it looks a little different :)
Holden are in the process of releasing (next month from memory is when they show up in dealsips) the sportswagon, the v8 model in the holden varient has the same v8 featured in the g8 (so 360hp or so)

Damn GM and damn pontiac for being so daft as to import an el camino and name it something else (which will fail) but not import this (which would be a success)...

Nobody would pay what this car would cost if it come here anyway.
Holdens should just recieve a badge change and be sold here through Chevrolet, nothing kills them quicker than the Pontiac brand and restyling them to look like every other Pontiac since the 1980s.
Odd that GM remakes Saturn into another outlet for Opel like Vauxhall in the UK but they take Holdens and make them look like crappy Pontiacs instead of making Pontiac look like Holden.

I'm playing something approaching devil's advocate here but it could be because Saturn has no real history to speak of, while Pontiac has been a well-known brand in the GM family.

I wouldn't want it to be branded a Chevrolet. GM completely ruined the Chevrolet brand when they started rebranding Daewoo's into Chevy's. It's embarrassing driving a Chevy in Europe and the rest of the world now.

Ouch, that is nice. Is there a 4 cyl version?

Bring it over as a Chevy.
Drop Pontiac, Buick, Saturn, GMC Trucks.
Keep Chevy and Cadillac.
Lets face it Pontiac is dead.
Love the car.

Totally want one. Oh well, guess I'll have to stick with the Germans to get a hot wagon.
