SEMA 2007: Steeda Ford Focus Club Racer

click image above for high-res gallery of the Steeda Focus Club Racer
Steeda has had great success building Mustangs for the track, and it's applied its magic touch to the new Ford Focus to create a club racer version of the car. The suspension has been reworked with a fully adjustable Eibach coilover setup, and a Baer brake system ensures increased stopping cability. The 2.0-liter inline-4 has been pumped up with Steeda's cold air intake, cat-back exhaust system, and a performance tune. Visually, the Club Racer also gets a 3d Carbon Euro Series body kit, a custom black grille, a new front end, and Club Racer graphics. Does it make the new Focus better looking than its mishapen production counterpart? Actually, it does.

Yet still the "new" Focus does nothing for me. I don't think any tuning house can save this car.

At least the rear bumper isn't hanging off the fenders by a 1/4 inch nearly all the way around like one of tow examples I saw at a local dealer's lot! Looks like
Steeda sweated the details...
Why, it took over a year and 20k miles for my '06 to have its body parts migrate to different areas.

Well you can definitely tell it's SEMA time. Everytime I click back to the main page, there is a new, overwrought and ugly image on the top of the page.

meh. it's better than what it was, that's for sure. but i couldn't afford steeda prices over the top of the car to make it financially viable.

I think that it's the black grill more than anything else that allows this car to look not-so-bad. The stupid chrome-ness just draws your attention to how ugly it is. On this car, you can notice on the mods and other details and see how much shaplier it is. Plus the lights on the Focus (even production) aren't that bad. It's just that you never notice them since you focus on the mess that is that chrome grill.

Nope, still ugly. And I saw the sedan in person, still ugly as heck. Maybe Ford will realize when ppl say that they want the Euro Focus... that ppl really want the Euro Focus.

I disagree. The automakers monitor the enthusiast boards. It is important to keep beating up Ford about this early and often. They need to know that the redesign wasn't good enough, that the late rework of the redesign still isn't good enough, and that this grotesque SEMA special still isn't good enough.
If we keep beating it into them, maybe they'll think about it when they are designing he next Euro Focus and design it meet US standards as well.

They are aready working on it, 2010 or 2011 there will be new world Focus. I know they monitor but the situation is already being addressed. It was posted here on Autoblog about 100 days ago and has been covered in the Automotive News 3 times in the last 2 months.
The other post shows how "cute" a child can be.

Other cars have a supermodel showing off it assets. Oh, but the ugly Focus... it gets a cheap podium that the car has to park its front tire on to keep it from falling over.
If it were a Euro Focus, I could stand next to it and the car would make me look like a supermodel. (30 year old male, skinny, balding)

I vote for an official re-name: Steed Ford Focus Club Soda, because it's just as boring as a club soda.
Dear Ford,
Please give us the Focus RS. If you can't do that then just build a new sport-compact that doesn't completely suck.

oooh an intake, exhaust, body kit, brakes that probably don't shorten braking distances, and a coilover kit that might be decent. i can't wait to see the price tag on this looker. (that was all sarcasm in case you're wondering)
