Many, many thanks to tipster "Rocket Punch" for sending in the photo above. Yes it's grainy and dark, but there's pretty much no mistaking it for what it is: the all-new Lancer that's not supposed to make its public debut until the Detroit auto show. The wing and sizeable alloys suggest a sports model like a Ralliart or perhaps even the Evo. (Dig the "Driven to Thrill!" license plate frame.)

Either way, we're liking what we can see here, and have our fingers crossed that the new Lancer will live up to the expectations set by the Concept X show car.

Whoever said Mitsu's were for 'trashy, low credit people' was partially right due to a lousy financing strategy MMCA has offered which came back to almost kill them.

Having said that, based on my experience, I could care less. I am rather well off, and I have a 2003 Outlander. It is by far the best vehicle I've owned in years. It's very tough, versatile, and never gave me any problems. By contrast, a friend with a '05 CRV has had his share of problems..

I'd buy a new Mitsu again in a heartbeat... most likely the Evo X this time around :)

Go-Go action Mitsu. Seriously, it looks like they were in a tight enough spot that they made a good looking lancer. Now lets hope the next eclipse doesnt look like a bloated suppository. Next up in the we are screwed auto game show? Ford.

Looks great -- I cant wait to see how hot the Evo will be. Subaru is going to have to do some serious catch up to make the Impreza look this impressive.

No rear diffusers=rallyart or other variation. Not an evo...

looks good. does anyone know if the rallyart is going to be awd turbo? like a wrx fighter?

#16: The pics that edmunds is featuring today we featured yesterday and also proved that they were photoshop fakes by finding the original pics on which they were based.

Hmm...I find myself strangely indifferent to this one. Maybe it's just the uncertainty and graininess talking.

What kind of tag is on it? An orange-on-blue California tag? Are those tags still in use in Cali?

Nice. I wouldn't be surprised if this became a new favorite to the compact market, à-la-Mazda3. Stylists got this one right - hopefully for Mitsu, it'll deliver more than just a good-looking alternative, but a serious contender.

Who needs grainy pics? Inside Line has pretty pics up from a Russian website: http://blogs.edmunds.com/Straightline/1792

Mitsubishi's are for trashy, no credit people, and everybody knows this..they mess up everything, look at the "new" galant, eclipse, endevour, outlander, lancer,,,need i say more...my lousy credit neighbor had a 2001 or 2001 galant, was worth -6,000 2 months after she bought it brand new...

After the whole Buick thing, I wouldn't be surprised if this picture was taken by Mitsu themselves. It shows just enough of the car to get people talking, but really shows no exact detail.
