Redesign our Business Cards, Win 1 of 2 Pioneer AVIC-D2 sat navs!
UPDATE: Added high-rez version of logo as eps file with no background

The current Autoblog business card (shown at right) was designed in a rush and frankly we're not too proud of it, so we're turning over the design of our next business card to you in exchange for a Pioneer AVIC-D2 in-dash navigation system valued at $1,500. As a matter of fact, we're holding two design contests and giving away TWO nav systems because we need two business cards designed – one for Autoblog and one for AutoblogGreen. The prize that could be yours, the Pioneer AVIC-D2, features...- Motorized 6.5" touchscreen
- Separate CD and DVD-ROM slots
- AM/FM radio, CD, MP3 and WMA
- 64MB internal memory
- Displays vehicle performance specs
- XM NavTraffic ready
- Rear camera input
- Retail Value: $1,500
- Click here to see all the specs and features on Pioneer's website
- You may enter as many designs for an Autoblog and/or AutoblogGreen business card as you'd like!
- You can only win one Pioneer AVIC-D2, which means only one of your designs can win
- This contest is open to US residents only who are 18 or older in age and installation is not included, sorry!
BTW - Designs for the Autoblog business card and the AutoblogGreen business card are being judged separately, so they do not need to be related designs if you enter both.

Your entry needs to adhere to the following specs to satisfy our business card printer:
- Dots per inch 300dpi
- Bleed size 1/16"
- Resolution 638px x 1088px

Use both the Autoblog and AutoblogGreen logo, which you can download as a high resolution TIFF file in CMYK here (Autoblog) and here (AutoblogGreen) or download our font here (right click, save link target) and recreate it, along with a tagline somewhere on the card that says "Weblogs, Inc. – an AOL company".
UPDATE: Download a high resolution version of the logo as an eps file with no background here. (right click, save as) We don't have the same file for AutoblogGreen, but it can be easily created by changing the red and black version of the logo to black and green, per AutoblogGreen's color scheme.
Your design must include the following types of copy in addition to our logo
- Name
- Title
- Phone number
- AIM ID
- Website address
- John Neff
- Editor in Chief
- email@email.com
- 123-456-7890
- johnneff
- www.autoblog.com
BTW: As a point of reference, we set the bar pretty low with our current business card. See below.

Any questions, make sure they're related to the contest and leave them in the comments, we'll get right back to you.

I know that this is a little off topic, but there are many businesses in the auto industry that take credit cards (auto dealerships and auto detailing, to name a few).
If you currently process credit cards, you are probably already aware of the Visa/MasterCard rate increase. Rates should only increase by 5-10 basis points (0.05%-0.10%). If you see an increase of anything more than that, contact your merchant service provider and negotiate a better rate.

Front and back? or Front only??
You didn't really say...

Good question. You can do either, just the front or both front and back. Our printer can handle both.

Full color? Full color front, solid back? Any spot colors? Die cuts? Size restrictions?

This is who we're likely using to print the cards, so you'll need to stay within their capabilities. If it's a cool design we're willing to pay extra to have it printed with special features, as long as this printer is able to do them.

lol, I knew you were using overnight prints.com by the specifications. They can't do spot colors, CMYK ONLY.
They offer rounded corners which are very cool and I think you guys should do.

I think you're making a BIG mistake if you intend to tamper with your logo, font style, and caption. Your brand mark is well recognized; why change?

#6: We're not changing our logo or font, that's we made a high resolution version of the logo and the font we use downloadable within the post. We're looking for people to take our familiar and recognizable logo/font and incorporate it into a business card design that's more creative and attractive than our current boring card with a white background. We really want be to be creative though. I've thought of designs in the past that showed the rear of a car with the logo like a badge on the back end and the license plate containing contact info. Who knows? We hope to see people really put on their thinking caps and design us a card that will make execs at auto shows go "Wow!"
#7: The font needs to be installed on your system. It's a true type font. Can anyone else give Kyle some direction on installing the font. Are you using a Windows system?

Do you want a street address ( even as an option) for the business card?
Do you have a corporate font you wish to use for the body of the business card or is up open?
I noticed the AutoBlog logo tiff file you made available contains imperfections. And I am unable to download the font. Can you send it to my email? I am using a mac.
One last question; are there any ™ , ® or © marks needed following the AutoBlog mark or the AOL compant statement?
Thanks!

No street address. Being bloggers were completely decentralized. Feel free to choose the corporate font for the contact info you feel best fits your design.
Concerning the font, have you right clicked on it and chosen to download the link target? I'm on a Mac as well, and that works fine for me.
Don't worry about trademark, registered, or copyright marks. If we need those in the end, we can drop them in ourselves.
Let me know if you still can't get the font by emailing abresearch at gmail dot com, I'll email it to you.

kyle fishburn: Download the font to your desktop and move it to C:WindowsFonts. Load up an image editor and find your font. :)

Thanks. Sorry about all the typos in the last post. Any other insights you can share with us about the way you use the AutoBlog business card?
Where you give them out, what kind of contacts you give them to, etc.
Thanks!

Someone asked about where we use the business cards. I would say predominantly at auto shows, giving them out to either PR folk at the automakers or other members of the press. We're often viewed as amateurs because we have the word "blog" in our name, and I think our current business card only encourages that misconception. I'd like the new one to be creative, clever, and professional looking.

Hey guys, I wasn't able to attach the 300 dpi tif files and successfully send the email. I sent a 300dpi jpeg (ouch) instead with my URL to view the tifs. Thanks.

Someone else asked the color values in CMYK for the red that appears in our font. Here they are:
c: 13%, m: 100%, y: 100%, k:4%
They were likely chosen at random back in the day, so feel free to tweak them a bit if you think it should be shade brighter or something, but don't go crazy and make it yellow or purple.

Are we allowed to use a different font?
