The Route 46 Nissan dealership in my home state of Dirty Jersey has concocted an incredible scheme to move inventory: any purchase of a new 2004 or 2005 model Nissan includes an off-lease or traded-in 2003 Nissan Sentra— free. It’s the latest insane incentive to be employed in the auto sales war, which often has dealers one-upping each other on rebates to make a sale. The average discount in July was $4,982, less than half of the $11,000 value given to the 03 Sentras. I’ve got two syllables for those of you who want a new Nissan but don’t want two cars: eBay.
