WhatCar Magazine is reporting that
DaimlerChrysler chairman Dieter Zetsche says Mercedes is investigating the feasibility of small production runs of SLR
models with different body styles, possibly including a roadster.
Zetsche hinted that production runs of 50
to 100 specialized variants of the SLR could be forthcoming from partner McLaren’s Techology Center production line.
WhatCar believes the SLR variants would be in addition to the rumored new McLaren road car, thought to
be positioned lower on the supercar scale, opposite Ferrari’s F430.
