Dan Ackman of Forbes takes a stab at trying to understand the latest in the impossible to decipher safety ratings
from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The new report focuses on the driver-death rates of nearly 200 vehicle
models and finds huge disparities within the vehicle classes and vehicle drivers. Statistics like luxury cars having
lower death rates than non-luxury cars and mid-size sports cars roll over just as much as SUVs helps prove that the
driver has much to do death rates than the car. An idiot in an Accord is more likely to kill them self than a
conscientious driver in a S2000. Can’t really put that stat down on paper. No sense figuring it out, it’s a headache
waiting to happen.
