Chinese automakers visible at Geneva

With help from an Italian design house, Chinese automaker’s presence couldn’t be ignored at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC) and Hafei both had vehicles at Geneva. SAIC had a little help after purchasing controlling interest in South Korean automaker, Ssangyong which already sells Korean built SUVs in Europe. Hafei showed an interior-less concept car, the Saibao (shown), which was designed by Pininfarina and expects to export to Europe in two to three years. Pininfarina is also under contract with other Chinese automakers like Chery and Hunan Changfeg Motor Company.
