The Saturn ION Red Line was not met with enthusiastic reviews when it first debuted, and now that Chevrolet has
introduced their own hot compact coupe, what is Saturn to do? Well, It seems they have decided to take the ION Red Line
down a slighty different path. The 2006 ION Red Line will be slightly restyled and revised, but the big news is a new
option package that should make the car more suitable for the occasional autocross. The new Red Line Competition
Package includes a Quaife limited-slip differential, 17-inch forged wheels in gunmetal. The package also comes with a
new combined instrument. Tired of being cursed with a centrally mounted tach when you’re on the track? Well, the
Competition package comes with a steering column mounted instrument that combines a boost gauge and a programmable
ladder tachometer, effectively ending any tachometer searching that may be required. In day to day driving, however,
one does get used to the centrally mounted instrument cluster. The new ladder tach just makes it a little easier for
those who like to view their tach through the steering wheel. Check out more at the link.
