Update Coming Soon
The start production date for the updated 2027 Cadillac Escalade IQ and the IQL is almost upon us – well, kind of. Later this year, GM will start producing the new full-size electric SUV at its factory, and dealers are expected to place orders soon.
GM Authority has the scoop, reporting that both the new Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL (extended-length variant) are scheduled for production later in 2026.

Better Late Than Next Year
According to the source, production of updated electric Escalades will start on December 7, 2026, and will be marked as 2027 model years. Deliveries for the unit are expected in 2027; however, no additional information has been provided for now.
The plant responsible for producing the full-size electric SUV will be GM’s Factory Zero plant in Detroit, Michigan. Prospective buyers will be happy to know that it still has a dual-motor setup, which makes 750 horsepower and 785 ft-lbs of torque – all of that and more with an advertised range of 465 miles on a single charge.
Customers can also expect that the three-row full-size SUV will come with a redesigned exterior and interior. Nothing has been confirmed for now, but a reworked front fascia with a new headlight and grille is expected, as well as a reworked rear with a new tailgate and taillight design.
Currently, the model sits at a base price of about $93,000 and tops out at over $173,000. Pricing is also expected to be higher for the 2027 model year, with higher material costs; we’ll likely see a price bump for the new Escalade IQs and IQLs.

Orders In October
Dealers will be able to configure the updated 2027 Escalade IQ and IQLs through GM’s system starting October 1, 2026. Thereafter, by October 29, 2026, dealers can put in a new order. GM Authority once again implied that GM will be GM and that all dates are tentative and subject to change.
Still, the anticipation for the electric Escalade is kinda up there, thanks to premium features, large size, and badge prestige. I’m sure the electric Escalade would tickle the fancy of full-size SUV fans, especially those who might be tired of paying hundreds of dollars at the gas pump and haven’t yet made the switch.
