Aston Martin's DB7 replacement adds to the equation

It adds two, um, DBs? With the 2005 DB9, Aston hopes to sustain their current success, coming off their best year ever, with 1600 cars moved in 2003. The DB9 uses a Vertical and Horizontal (VH) platform that represents the future of Aston: a dimensionally flexible chassis that can be the foundation for several different-sized models. A rigid aluminum frame houses a 450-bhp V12 that shifts via automatic transmission, with a sport “manual” mode that lets the driver make some of the decisions. The interior is a completely gorgeous combination of leather, wood and aluminum, befitting of a $165,000 super GT, and it perfectly matches the stylish, understated exterior. The DB9 is available in the U.S. right now, and autumn brings with it falling leaves and the Volante convertible.
