Volkswagen is taking a hard look at a pickup truck, the Lincoln Aviator is back, and you love old Subarus (we'll explain). The New York Auto Show returned last week with flair and a wide range of promising reveals. Let's break down some of the big news, plus a few things you might have missed.

Andreas Preuninger, the head of Porsche's GT division, owns a 2012 Ram 1500 long-box. He mostly uses it to haul his motorcycles. It apparently won't fit in his parking spot at work. It's a far cry from the lightweight, track-focused 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS that was revealed this month at the Geneva Motor Show, though both vehicles were built for a specific purpose.

With 590 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque, the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine powering the all-wheel-drive Levante Trofeo boasts the greatest power-per-liter of any engine ever installed in a Maserati. The Ferrari-based V8 pushes the Levante Trofeo to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 187 mph.
