As its name suggests, an oscillating multitool has a ton of different uses, from clearing out old grout to plunge-cutting drywall to sanding in corners to cutting pipes. Its versatility is what makes it such a valuable tool, so it’s big news when an oscillating multitool from a leading tool brand gets a hefty discount.
The DeWalt 20V Max XR Oscillating Multitool Kit is on sale for $145 at Walmart, 32% off its normal $219 price tag. Unlike lots of tool deals, this one comes with the works: the tool, a battery, a charger, two blades, and a carrying case. That means it works out of the box and gives you an extra battery and charger for the rest of your DeWalt collection, which is a nice bonus.
The brushless motor on this tool means up to 57 percent more runtime than older models, which means you’ll get a surprising amount of use out of the included low capacity (but lightweight) 1.5Ah battery between charges. This tool is built to be as user friendly as possible, with a 3-speed selector, dual grip variable-speed trigger, fast and tool-free blade changes, an integrated LED light, and universal accessory adapter. This thing can make quick work of all sorts of tasks, even in tight spaces, and weekend warriors and professionals alike will likely find more uses for it than they anticipate.
One apartment superintendent wrote that this is the “best multitool on the market.” They added that “it has the power to cut through almost anything I ask of it” with minimal noise and vibration. Also, “this tool has all the features anyone might need,” so you don’t need to worry about having to replace it with something more capable.
Another shopper wrote that “the tool is light, easy to use with one hand, and powerful enough to get the job done,” whether that job is cutting a waterproof board for a shower or a corroded toilet tank screw.
