Overview
The redesigned 2025 Lincoln Navigator full-size SUV enters its fifth generation, delivering a commanding road presence and unapologetic opulence for discerning buyers. It’s for affluent families and executives who measure luxury in numbers, such as a seating capacity of up to eight, a 440-hp twin-turbocharged V6 engine, and the ability to tow up to 8,700 pounds.
Available in a regular and long-body L, it squares up against the Cadillac Escalade and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, with a focus on luxurious pampering, not off-road ability or driving dynamics. With 4WD standard, a wellness-focused “Rejuvenate” mode, and hands-free BlueCruise highway driving ability, this rolling sanctuary is for the well-off few who can buy and run one.
What’s New for 2025?
The 2025 Navigator is redesigned for its fifth generation with restyled LED headlights, a new grille, and Lincoln’s Range Rover-like “Split Gate” tailgate, which is unique in this class. It grows in height and width for 20% more loading space, and the cabin is overhauled, gaining a 48-inch panoramic digital display that spans the dashboard and contains the instruments, infotainment touchscreen, and passenger display.
Massaging seats are now offered for the second row, and seat heating is available for all rows. The Black Label comes with two available interior themes: Atmospheric features ash wood appliques, off-white leather, and copper exterior accents, while Enlighten comes with birch wood appliques and light beige leather. There is no longer an entry-level Premiere trim.
Exterior
The Navigator’s exterior has an unmistakable presence with an (available) illuminated Lincoln Star logo, LED headlights, an LED light bar, and a big grille. Some body-side sculpting and a full-length character line add definition, but it’s straight-edged and boxy to maximize cabin volume. Wheels range from 22 to 24 inches in finishes such as Radiant Copper and – on the Black Label’s Atmospheric theme – Dark Tarnished. The Reserve’s available Jet Appearance package blacks out the exterior trim.
The horizontally split Lincoln Split Gate tailgate is unique in this segment (Range Rover also does it), and allows the upper part to rise like a liftgate, while the lower portion drops like a truck tailgate to create a loading or seating area. The use of aluminium in the body maintains strength while shaving off some weight from this hefty body-on-frame SUV.

Interior
The Navigator’s cabin is luxurious thanks to top-grade materials and occupant-pampering features. The Rejuvenate mode transforms it into a spa, coordinating climate, lighting, ambient visuals, seat position, massaging functions, and scent cartridges to reduce stress. Front seats feature heating, ventilation, and massaging functions, and the driver’s seat has 24-way power adjustment.
Black Label upgrades to 30-way powered Perfect Position front seats, including individually adjustable thigh supports. Available “PowerPitch and Slide” second-row captain’s chairs add heating, ventilation, and massaging, while the 40/20/40-split and power-folding and reclining third row can be heated. Up to 14 USB-C ports are found throughout the cabin.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- 440-hp twin-turbo V6
- Standard BlueCruise
- 48-inch display
- “Rejuvenate” wellness mode
- Split Gate tailgate
- 8,700-lb towing capacity
- Standard massaging front seats
Cons:
- Poor fuel economy
- Size challenging in urban environments
- Less powerful than some rivals
- High entry price
- No hybrid or electrified powertrain
Verdict
The Navigator redefines the luxury full-size SUV with its passenger-wellness features, successfully modernizing the Lincoln flagship and retaining its huge size and presence, but placing comfort and technology above performance with the Rejuvenate mode and 48-inch display. The 440-hp V6 gets it to 60 mph in 5-6 seconds, it has standard 4WD, and will tow up to 8,700 pounds.
The hedonism comes at a cost, with even the cheapest Navigator costing $100K and chugging fuel at the rate of 17 mpg, while rivals such as the Escalade-V and 510-hp Grand Wagoneer are more powerful. However, the Navigator makes arriving feel like an achievement rather than an afterthought, and is perfect if you prefer a cossetting sanctuary over speed.
