Overview
The 2027 Cadillac Optiq is a compact electric luxury SUV built on GM’s Ultium platform and competing with compacts such as the BMW iX3, Mercedes-Benz GLC EV, and Volvo EX60. It’s available with a 315-hp single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD and either 440 hp or the Optiq-V’s 519 hp. Starting at only $50K, it offers excellent value in the compact, making it easier for people to step up to electric mobility in the premium space.

What’s New for 2027
Subject to very limited availability, the Optiq-V will be offered in a Deep Ocean Design Edition (top image and above), which comes with Deep Ocean Tintcoat paintwork, blue brake callipers, unique 6-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels, and a black and Santorini Blue interior (below left and center) with carbon-fiber trim. Last year’s Optiq-V Magnus Launch Edition is no longer available.
Three new colors are added to the Optiq lineup, with availability depending on the trim: Midnight Stone Frost, Sandstone, and Citron Tricoat (below right). A Tesla-based NACS-to-J1772 adapter now accompanies the 2027 Optiq and enables home charging for people who have already purchased the J1772 home connector.

Exterior
The familiar Cadillac design language applies in a downscaled form, with thin L-shaped LED DRLs, vertical LED headlights, and a small version of the Cadillac grille panel, which is closed off. Exterior trim is rendered in Galvano Chrome on Luxury trims and dark Obsidian Chrome and gloss-black on Sport models. The Premium trims add upgraded headlights and taillights, headlight levelling, and choreographed exterior lighting. All trims run on 20-inch wheels, but they’re upgradable to 21s. The strictly limited Optiq-V Deep Ocean Design Edition comes only in Deep Ocean Tintcoat paint.

Interior
Cadillac’s Google-based 33-inch Horizon Display dominates the dashboard, but the Google software handles all connectivity, so Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are notable by their absence. Standard tech features include 19-speaker AKG audio and Google Services; top trims gain a head-up display as well.
The second row boasts a generous 37.8 inches of legroom and will accommodate full-size adults with 38.7 inches of headroom. Standard features include Inteluxe leatherette/fabric upholstery and a heated steering wheel and (power) front seats. Top trims gain ventilated front seats and heated rear seats.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Attainable $50K base price
- Super Cruise standard
- NACS port gives Tesla Supercharger access
- Spacious cabin
Cons:
- No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto
- Max 150-kW DC fast charging
- Low 1,500-lbs towing capacity
Verdict
The Optiq is a very compelling entry in the compact luxury segment, with a $50K base price and features such as 19-speaker AKG audio and a 33-inch display standard across the range. The 150-kW charging speed lags the class nowadays, and the range and towing capacity are not exceptional, while the absence of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remains a bone of contention, but these are the only chinks in the armor of a very competent crossover with a spacious, high-quality interior.
