The 2026 BMW i4 in a Nutshell
While it’s easy to dismiss the BMW i4 as a battery-powered 4 Series Gran Coupe, it’s a lot more clever than that. It combines the dynamic underpinnings of the 4 Series with BMW’s latest battery tech, making it a solid and effective alternative to the ever-popular Tesla Model 3.
The i4 was introduced in 2021 for the 2022 model year; it’s among the first of BMW’s mass-market EVs. It was then updated for the 2025 model year with updates inside and out. More crucially, the 2026 model gets welcome hardware upgrades that not just increase power, but also range.

2026 BMW i4 Lease Deals for February
For the most part, BMW always offers lease deals for all trims, and the i4 is no exception. This month, all three versions of the electric liftback can be leased for less, and it starts at under $500 per month. Starting with the eDrive40, it starts at $499 for 36 months with $4,759 due at signing.
Above that is the xDrive40, which goes for $529 for 36 months, and it’s $4,999 due at signing. For those who want more punch, that’s served by the M60, $679 per month with a due at signing price of $5,999. Those rates are actually carried over from last month’s promo, so good news for those who missed out in January. It’s $0.25 for every mile over 10,000 per year, and the offer is valid until March 2, 2026.

The 2026 BMW i4 is priced from $57,900, all the way to 70,700. Available trims include the eDrive40, xDrive40, and M60. The M60 replaces the M50, but all get upgraded battery packs and more powerful motors. All also come standard with Active Driving Assistant (advanced driver assists), BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, built-in apps, heated seats, sunroof, and power tailgate.
Various option packages are available for the i4. For instance, the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds traffic jam assistant and hands-free driving capabilities up to 40 mph. There’s also the Premium Package that throws in more niceties, and the M Sport pack is available for eDrive40 and xDrive40.
Moving to powertrain, the eDrive40 has a single motor with 335 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The xDrive40 gets a second motor, bringing output up to 396 hp and 443 lb-ft. As for the M60, power and torque rise to 593 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of torque.

Final Thoughts
The i4 is a solid alternative to the Tesla Model 3. Although the latter is cheaper to lease base-model-wise, the BMW is less expensive the higher you go up the trim levels. It’s one of the few electric sport sedans/liftbacks in the market today, and we can safely say that it drives and rides like a BMW should. With the 2026 battery upgrade, the i4 is an even more compelling choice, and for those who want to try out luxury electric motoring, this car is a good place to start.
