Recharge Wrap-up: Zero 2016 launch, International ZEV Alliance

NRG Undergoes Restructuring

11 governments from Europe and North America have founded the International ZEV Alliance. The alliance - which includes seven US state governments, the Canadian province of Québec and the European nations of the UK, the Netherlands and Norway – are home to seven percent of global vehicle sales, but make up 38 percent of electric vehicle sales. "Vermont is pleased to join the International ZEV Alliance because of our commitment to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, and because we know that this goal can best be achieved by working in partnership with other governments as well as with the private sector," says Vermont Secretary of Natural Resources Deb Markowitz. Will NRG's corporate restructuring affect its EV charging operations? The company has transferred solar and charging enterprises to a subsidiary company called GreenCo, which it is providing with $150 million while it looks for strategic partners. Additionally, with the clean energy provided by solar being tied to powering EVs, it remains to be seen what NRG's efforts will mean for its eVgo charging network. Read more at Green Car Reports.
