Recharge Wrap-up: Tommykaira ZZ soundtrack by Roland, Neste patents gasoline bio-blend

EDTA Appoints New President

The Tommykaira ZZ electric roadster gets an artificial soundtrack from Roland. For drivers who prefer an aural punch from their otherwise quiet electric sports car, the musical equipment manufacturer Roland will give owners customizable sounds that respond to what the car is doing and driver inputs. The system can mimic the sounds of a conventional car, or it can provide a "spaceship" sound for an even more futuristic experience. Neste has filed a patent for a gasoline composition using components from the company's NEXBTL renewable diesel process. The fuel uses up to 20 percent paraffinic bio-hydrocarbons, and can also incorporate other bio-compounds like ethanol, isobutanol, and EBTE. The resulting fuels increase the bio/renewable content of gasoline, and can be used in conventional engines. It also makes it possible to reduce harmful emissions and improve local air quality compared to fossil fuels. Read more at Green Car Congress.
