And now for something completely different: A1GP

This weekend sees the first-ever A1GP race at Brands Hatch, England. The innovative series, which bills itself as "The World Cup of Motorsport," has been carefully designed from the ground up to be different from existing open-wheel championships.
The 25 national teams that will take the grid this weekend are all using identical Lola/Zytek cars, with plenty of power and no driver aids, to showcase the ability of the drivers.

The teams can have multiple drivers, and even elect to run more than one driver in the same race weekend. There is no "driver's championship" as in Formula 1 and other series.

The race weekend format, which features two races and multiple qualifying sessions, has been carefully designed to be "fan friendly," both to TV audiences and to fans at the circuit.

If early ticket sales for Brands Hatch are any indication, the series is off to a great start, with word that an entire grandstand has been sold to Irish fans.
