Announcing our new Editor-in-Chief

I'm proud to announce that I'm the new Editor-in-Chief of this fine website. My path to here started 16 years ago when I managed to not get fired as a Motor Gopher at Automobile magazine. Since then I've worked at a lot of great publications, and right now there's no better place to be than at Autoblog. It's an honor to sit in the Editor's chair, and humbling to lead a team of such tireless workers.

Sharon Carty's departure for a new project is bittersweet for the whole staff, even those like me who only joined the site a few weeks ago. We're excited for Sharon, but even more excited about what lies ahead at Autoblog. We're going to continue improving, innovating, and bringing you the best automotive coverage the web has to offer. Inside the office, we're going to keep the jokes flowing (like obscure Homestar Runner references), and that sense of humor will make its way into our writing. We want you to have just as much fun reading and watching Autoblog as we have writing it.

I have a cheap framed picture of Bobby Orr's 1970 Stanley Cup-winning goal in my office. Orr, number four, won the Bruins' fourth championship at the forty-second mark of the fourth period (the first overtime) of the fourth game. None of that was on Orr's mind when he put the puck in the net, or during the iconic horizontal leap he made in celebration. He was just doing his best. To me, that photo is a reminder that greatness takes equal parts opportunity, skill, and luck. And also that it starts with doing your best.

As the new Editor-in-Chief of Autoblog, I promise to you, dear reader, that I will do my best. And with the rest of the editorial and development teams, we will produce greatness.
