If you're just dying to know whether you can order your 2013 Cadillac ATS with, say, the 3.6-liter V6 and a manual transmission, you're in luck. Cadillac has launched its ATS configurator – sans prices – so go ahead and get officially disappointed, as that manual gearbox is only available with the 2.0-liter turbo, and only in rear-drive.

Cadillac shows 10 exterior colors available on the ATS, with four shades of leather and two leatherette trims. We're partial to Opulent Blue Metallic paint and Morello Red leather, though admittedly the two don't really match, which is why Cadillac doesn't allow you to order them together.

Now that we've betrayed the fact that we've already wasted far too much time playing with a configurator that doesn't contain any pricing information whatsoever, we'll suggest you just go mess with it on your own.

We'll circle back once the Caddy team shows us the money.

It makes no sense. There are four 2.0Turbo RWD versions. Only one has LSD. And its not the performance version. That can't be right. It should be standard on all. Magnetic Ride Control is also not on the Performance version. And heated seats is an option?

I am a little annoyed that every time I make a change, I can't see it happening because the detail window comes up over the picture of the car.

Agreed. This is definitely not the best site for configuring options.

Or if anything, allow the manual with AWD (with either engine). I know it gets complex to offer so many configs, but it would be nice to see AWD thrown in the mix (with a manual).

im proud to say that i had a part in the final design of this car after being invited to so many focus groups for this car. When i first saw the actual production version sans the badge i was floored at how good it looked.

How do you get invited to Cadillac focus groups?

Wow, their configurations could be better! I would order a 2.0 with performance related things but I have no interest in idiotic driver awareness package or seating package. Judging by the carsdirect pricing it seems a 328i outfitted as I desire will run about 3k less than the Cadillac and have the benefit of better lease rates. And i won't be stuck with "wood" trim if I get a color of leather other than Darth Vader black. Damn. Was excited about the ATS but looking at the all the package options i hope this is not final. This takes it from sport performance sedan into a car loaded with dorky doodads and electronics. Before people ask why one would have collision alert or lane departure warnings... well if you're a decent driver these things are totally unneeded and if you track you know when you're driving aggressively on a track you use all the road (assume this feature can be turned off).

The red leather doesn't have wood trim. It's carbon fiber.

Why can't you get the 6 speed manual with the V6? I can understand why they might only offer a stick in the base trim levels with economy cars, to appeal to the frugal shoppers looking for bare bones, A to B transportation, but not with a sport luxury car. There is no excuse for this. The manual should be offered across the board with cars in this particular segment.

I completely agree. Not offering a manual on the XTS? That's understandable, but on a car like the ATS, it should be offered on all engine options. Maybe they add that option later in the year.

Indeed. They go on and on about it being a "performance" lux sedan and all they offer is the paddle slush box. Yawn. Another one for grandpa.

I'm simply shocked that there isn't a sport package that includes the MRC, Brembos, LSD, and aluminum/carbon fiber trim in every interior available on every one of the 2.0T and 3.6 trim levels! I guess Cadillac forced my hand into the 2.0T Premium (good for Cadillac, bummer for me I guess).

Not loving the interior color choices. M̶a̶r̶o̶o̶n̶ Morello Red leather? Reminds me of the inside of my grandmothers 1992 Chrysler Dynasty. And the "Brownstone" accents? Looks like someone dumped their chocolate milkshake all up in there...
